Paul Lazarus III
Professor, Motion Pictures

Paul Lazarus holds a J.D. from Yale University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College.  He practiced intellectual property law at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York City before becoming Head of Business Affairs for General Artists Corp., a full service talent agency.

He moved on to becoming a talent agent for that company representing Woody Allen, Bernard Malamud, Phillip Roth, Shelly Winters and Simon & Garfunkel, among others.  From the talent agency, he became the Head of Production for a series of motion picture companies, including Palomar Pictures, ABC Pictures Corp., Marble Arch Pictures and HBO Feature Films.

Lazarus has also produced eight feature films including WESTWORLD, CAPRICORN ONE, HANOVER STREET, and BARBAROSA .  He founded an educational film company for Psychology Today Magazine and executive produced 68 award-winning educational films for distribution to colleges and high schools. He further served as the Film Commissioner for the state of New Mexico.

Lazarus served as Program Director of the Motion Picture Program of the University of Miami School of Communication’s Motion Picture Program for 19 years.  During that time he published four non-fiction books on the motion picture industry, three novels, numerous award-winning screenplays and many articles pertaining to the motion picture industry in professional journals.
